Health and Safety should always be a primary consideration when running any type of outdoor course or activity. This is especially important when you are working with groups of children such as in a forest school scenario.
Most outdoor activities present a level of Health and Safety risk and few present as much potential danger as those activities involving fire. Children are, naturally fascinated by fire and, when treated with caution and respect it can be at the heart of a number of group activities. Whether you are lighting a campfire, cooking outdoors or using fire as a means of illumination it is important to teach children about the importance of fire safety.
