PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Many firesteels come with poor strikers - fact! But the Greenman Bushcraft Firesteel Scraper is different to many on the market today, making it easier than ever to throw lots of hot sparks from a firesteel rod, but this time with hardly any effort at all, making them easy to use by anyone, including youngsters. Our strikers make ideal replacements for your existing firesteel scrapers or as handy back-ups in case your students lose them whilst out in the woods!

Replacement Scrapers for Firesteels

Unlike many, the Greenman firesteel strikers are made for high performance and constructed from thick steel that will not bend with use. On one side there is a minute raised lip which acts much like a microscopic cheese grater (you can't cut yourself) allowing the firesteel to work at its absolute best and wear evenly, so there won't be any breakages due to uneven wear of the Ferro Rod. There is also a hole on the top so they can be strung to your firesteels.

We recommend using the side of the scraper for best results, but there is also a guide at the front which reduced slippage against the firesteel if needed.

As well as being the best fire strikers you can get, they also incorporate a bottle opener, wrench and ruler to cover a few extra needs whilst camping!

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

"We now make our own fire strikers, with the children, and use these blades (strikers) and ferrocerium rods set into a chunk of tree branch. These are excellent strikers, really robust and last for ages. I haven't had to chuck any of them so far and some I've had for probably 5 years or more. The only slight downside is they aren't suitable for left handed children - or at least, they're tricky to use. Given most children aren't going to need the bottle opener, I'd prefer it if there was a drilled at each end of the striker so that the abrasive edge worked for left and right handed users. But that's a minor point - I've kept the strikers from the Swedish Scout fire steels and my south paws use those as they are ambidextrous!"
